Self Roles

Enables members to self-assign roles through message methods.

Self Roles are the supercharged version of reaction roles. Vaneta sends its own role-picker messages to your channels, and members grab roles through reactions, buttons, or dropdown menus — whichever style fits your server. Each method can both add and remove roles, letting you build setups reaction roles can’t handle (like switching between mutually exclusive colour roles).

Configuration

Create as many self-role messages as you like. Each message has:

  • Name — what to call the message (only visible on the dashboard).
  • Channel — where to send the message.
  • Content — the message text (for example “Pick a colour role!”).
  • Methods — the ways members assign roles. Each method has an emoji or label, the roles to add, and the roles to remove when it’s used.

Reaction Roles vs Self Roles

Reaction Roles attach reactions to a message you wrote and map one emoji to one role. Self Roles messages are sent by Vaneta, support buttons and dropdowns on top of reactions, and can add and remove multiple roles per method.
