Punitives

Core moderation setup — the jail role used by /jail.

Punitives is the foundation of Vaneta’s moderation setup. It’s where you configure the jail role used by /jail.

Configuration

  • Jail Role — applied by /jail. The member keeps server access but loses all their other roles until released. Set this role’s channel permissions so it can only see a jail channel (or nothing at all).

Staff permissions for moderation commands are configured per-command on the Commands page of the dashboard, not here.

Commands

Vaneta’s moderation commands cover the full range from a warning to a permanent ban:

  • /warn — warns a member (add/remove, escalates through the Warnings module).
  • /jail — strips a member’s roles and applies the jail role (add/remove). Role snapshots mean a released member gets all their old roles back exactly as they were.
  • /timeout — Discord’s native timeout (add/remove), up to 28 days.
  • /kick — kicks a member from the server.
  • /ban — bans a user from the server (add/remove — /ban remove also lifts a /tempban or /hardban).
  • /tempban — bans a user for a set duration (e.g. 1h, 7d, 30d); automatically unbanned once it expires.
  • /softban — bans and immediately unbans a user, deleting their recent messages. Effectively a kick with a message purge.
  • /hardban — a permanent ban that also deletes all of the user’s messages from the last 7 days.

All of these take an optional reason, and are logged to your Audit Logs punishments channel if one is configured.
